Cooking Matters for Adults in Sedalia (Session 1 of 6)

First United Methodist Church (The Celebration Center) in Sedalia, MO 1701 W. 32nd St. Sedalia, MO 65301

Description:

Cooking Matters is a hands-on cooking class where objectives focus on important aspects of selecting and preparing nutritious, safe, and low-cost foods. Participants will also learn how to eat healthier, cook healthier, read nutrition labels, and skills for smart grocery shopping on a budget. Participants get to take home free groceries to prepare a recipe a second time at their home.

Session topic:

Participants will practice proper hand washing and basic knife safety, prepare recipes with foods from multiple food groups, discuss using recipes as a framework that can be adjusted to save money and improve health, and practice reading food labels.
